North Carolina companies got a little less money from private equity firms in 2012, though the number of deals increased, according to a new report from the Private Equity Growth Capital Council.
About $10.1 billion flowed to the state last year, ranking it No. 11 among the states. The 64 private equity deals in North Carolina were good for twelfth place.
Texas ($46.6 billion), California ($35 billion) and Colorado ($26.8 billion) were the top three states for private equity investment last year.
In 2011, N.C. companies got $10.5 billion -- ranking the state No. 4 -- through 56 deals.
The industry group's report was its third. Data was again collected from Pitchbook, the private equity deals database.
