Bank of the Ozarks last week awarded a construction contract for a branch it plans to build in Cornelius, an official for the bank said.
Cindy Wolfe, the bank's president for the Charlotte region, said the contract was given to Cornelius-based J.D. Goodrum. David Goodrum, owner of the company, said the construction value of the project is roughly $1.5 million.
Construction will begin in the next two weeks with completion expected in February, Goodrum said.
The one-story branch will be at 19811 W. Catawba Ave. and be Bank of the Ozark's third in North Carolina.
The bank opened a two-story, 11,050-square-foot branch at 4200 Park Road in Charlotte in March. It also has a branch in Wilmington.
According to building permit data, the construction cost of the Park Road branch was $1.8 million.
Bank of the Ozarks is based in Little Rock, Ark.
