Bankers: How are bonuses this year?

A quick look at local wage data proves how important bonus season is to the Charlotte economy. It's also an important indicator of the health of the city's two big banks.

That's why we're trying to get a sense of how bonus season is treating local bankers this year.

So bankers crash the world's economy, sending millions into foreclosure and millions more to unemployment or totally out of the labor force, and you putzes are boo-hooing about these crooks' bonuses?

Hey Garth. Not all bankers are crooks. Actually, some of us work for conservative institutions that played it safe and prospered. And while some big time executives are getting bonuses many of these bonuses are earned by lower paid employees and are a reward for high performance. In fact, my bonus, if and when I get it mostly goes to taxes (40%), then another 20% to local home taxes and the rest is for me and my family. We usually spend it on things we need and or want therefore putting it all right back into the economy

Hey Garth, It wasn't just Bankers( and not all bankers), it was also politicians, appraisers, builders, mortgage brokers and people who were just too greedy and bought more on credit than they could knowingly afford.
Yet you dont seem to boo hoo the politicians pay, or the unions pensions or the CEO of GM big compensation all funded by tax payers.....

3:30,

Spare me the "I'm just trying to feed my family" claptrap. We all know from "Operation Hustle" what "high performance" is code for: closing scam loans or recommending worthless securities.

6:03,

I put 50% down on my house. Where's my $700,000,000,000.00 bailout? Where's my unlimited taxpayer backstop?

Banks are required to do due diligence so that they don't get stuck with bad loans. But since they had a backdoor deal with the politicians, they just rubber-stamped millions of LIAR, NINA and NINJA loans knowing that they could stick Joe Sixpack with the bill.

I didn't say jack about feeding my family. More along the lines of what is left after govco gets their take is ours to enjoy. For the record I sell nothing and write no loans. I am expected to help clients with extreme levels of customer service. Think of how it used to be, you know old school service. If i do it well and get positive feedback it feeds my bonus structure. This service in turn earns the bank more money by keeping clients and getting word of mouth referrals. So spare your "operation hustle high performance" BS as you don't seem to know jack. Oh and for the record an income under $70K for a family of four is hardly what I call wealthy. Am I lucky? Absolutely. Wealthy? Not quite.

7:52, based on the attitude you display, I wouldn't be making any big credit card purchases in expectation of a customer service based bonus.

@ 9:52. My Comments were in direct response to Garth. But don't you worry about credit purchases for me, don't use them. As for attitude. I think a blog is far differnt then the real world. I was simply using my job to illustrate that not all bankers are trying to get one over on their clients. After all without our clients we wouldn't even have a job much less a bonus.
